GE Money eco MastercardEvery time you spend on your GE Money eco MasterCard, you'll contribute to projects that offset greenhouse gas emissions, helping you offset your carbon footprint and work towards a healthier planet.* Start making a difference today.
We're all trying to do our bit to make a difference to the environment. Whether it's taking shorter showers, recycling the newspaper or cycling to work, Australians are showing that they care about the world around them. Now, as well as making environmentally friendly changes in your home, office and on the road, you can make a positive change just by using your credit card.
By spending on your GE Money Eco MasterCard, you'll contribute to emission reduction and avoidance projects. If 100,000 people spend $600 per month with the eco MasterCard, the carbon offsets accumulated each year would total over half a million tonnes - the equivalent of taking 115,000 cars off the road for a year. As an eco MasterCard cardholder, you can choose to contribute an amount equal to 1% of your purchases‡ to emission reduction projects, or contribute 0.5% and get 0.5% cash back, as a credit to your account.^ Your contribution is then used to help fund projects such as reforestation, renewable energy, water and wastewater treatment, land and habitat conservation, energy efficiency and other environmental initiatives that meet the strict standards developed by GE AES Greenhouse Gas Services and assessed by GreenOrder, a specialist third party. While changing your credit card may seem like a small thing, it can make an enormous difference. Just paying a $55 mobile phone bill on the eco MasterCard, each month for 12 months, will allow us to purchase enough greenhouse gas credits to offset the annual emissions of a large screen TV (if it's watched 6 hours per day). |
