What is required to apply for a credit card online?
Credit control procedures have become much easier as the internet has advanced. Credit provers have relaxed their requirements. You no longer need to meet the bank or card issuer face to face and you don't need to sign anything to apply online.
Age verification
You must be 18 or older.
Identification
Provide proof of who you are. 100 point check of your identity. This usually requires that you must have at least 3 forms of identification. A driver's licence, passport and debit card are the most common. more below
Your must show your identication documents at a post office or any branch of the issuing bank or finance company's street address. You will need to sign something in front of them. You may also require an invoice from a utility company or known retailer that shows your current street address and matches the address on another of your forms of ID. A telephone bill or electricty bill for example.
Your Credit Rating
Generally speaking you must not have defaulted on any previous credit card or other form of credit within a year. Young, first offenders may get away with one small default. You can get your credit rating report sent to you, for a small fee. Don't presume that debts you finalise come off your bad credit report until a full 7 years has passed. If you have existing credit cards, home loans and ready credit then obviously it will be easier. You should have a good sense of your credit rating regardless.
